Inspiron 6400 Wide Screen WXGA Resolution - There is no option for 1280x800

Hi,

I have a Inspiron 6400 with the WXGA Truelife display. Recently, after a Vista update the laptop restarted with a display setting of 1024 x 768. There is only the other option of 800 x 600 in the Intel Graphics Media applet.

The display is listed in Device Manager as 'Digital Flat Panel (1024x768 60hz). I suspect that this is where the problem lies. I have tried

My Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset Family is at version 7.14.10.1409 dated 02/01/2008.

Anyone have a resolution for this problem?

Many Thanks

Griff

I have now found that there appears to be an LCD Connection problem.

I ran the PSA+ Pre Boot System Assessment (build 4002). The LCD Connection Test failed with '2000-0321 Unable to detect LCD' message.

I assume therefore that something has failed or become disconnected. The assumption leans toward the failure of a component; if it was a disconnected lead/wire then I would probably get no output at all.

Has anyone else had this problem before and is it something I can fix or is it a Warranty claim time?

Thanks in advance

Griff

I have now solved the problem. I found the answer here.

It was a loose connection underneath the hinge cover.
