Inspiron 8100 PXE-E05 Agent Boot error, can't access BIOS setup

Question

Hi, hope you're fine. I have an Inspiron 8100, when I turn it on, after Dell's blue screen I get this error message: 'PXE-E05: The lan adapter's configuration is corrupted or has not been initialized. The boot agent cannot continue.' And that's it, freezes all.. I have removed the battery, the floppy drive, the optical drive, even HDD, and I still get that error message. What can I do? how do I update Bios? I can't enter Bios and disable the Boot Agent. Any suggestions?   thanks in advanced.

I removed the mini-PCI component, I needed to setup time in the Bios, after doing this it was able to boot normally. I tried to seat again this part, but I got the PXE error. I think it's time to replace it. I have a wireless network card, so I don't need right now this component for the moment.  My laptop is working fine now.   greetings.

well,  I just got he same problem with a dell inspiron 8000 purchased in july 2001!!  I was able to turn on the machine  by doing maybe 20-30 in a row turn on turn off... and the system worked fine while on. Putting it to sleep, the awakening happend fine but i tried to restart the system and ... again got the PXE-E05 agent error  and so far no chance to restar the system again.  it seems to me that this is a hardware problem ??  there probably more machine with this kind of problems ???  I wrote to Dell support but so far no answer   I hope we can find a solution because this is very annoying and I a not a specialist marabout

Laptop runs fine until I shut down and try to start up. I get the following message... PXE-E05: The LAN adapter's configuration is corrupted or has not been initialized. The Boot Agent cannot continue.  I tried re-seating HD/ memory cards, etc. Nothing!  Any Suggestions?
