Inspiron E1705 - USB and COM port mapping?

​I have an (nspiron E1705 laptop, there are 2 USB ports on left side and 4 USB ports on the back of the laptop. I'm wanting to use the HyperTerminal software to communicate with an external device. The Control Panel, System, Hardware Device Manager, Ports (COM & LPT) show that I have COM3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 20, 21. How do I determine which of my 6 external USB ports map to these COM ports? This is one of the questions I must answer when configuring HyperTerminal, i.e. "connect using." I welcome your feedback!​
