Integrated Webcam Driver for Windows 7, 64 Bit

Greetings:

I completed a clean install from Vista to Win 7 on my Dell XPS M1330. I need to download a new driver for the integrated webcam and would like to request advice about which driver/software to download to enable the webcam. One addiittonal piece of information: the system has a 64 bit processor.

Thanks,

Hi ealmap,

Follow the steps below to install the Webcam Central software:

  1. Visit http://bit.ly/OXFXhj
  2. Login using your email address and password that you used for registering in Dell website.
  3. The website will prompt you for running a plugin which will analyze your computer system service tag and list the applications which can be installed.
  4. Locate “Dell Webcam Central”, select it and click “Download”.
  5. Download Manager will prompt for installation, follow the on-screen instructions to download the software using the download manager.
  6. Close the download manager window once the download of Dell Webcam Central completes.
  7. Click “Start”, type “Programs and Features” and press enter.
  8. In the “Programs and Features” window, right click “Dell Webcam Central”, click “Change/Uninstall”.
  9. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation.
  10. Restart the computer.
  11. Click “Start”, click “Computer”. Go to “Documents” folder.
  12. Open the “My Dell Downloads” folder. It will have the installation files for “Dell Webcam Central”.
  13. Run the setup file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
  14. Restart the computer.
  15. Open “Dell Webcam Central” and check.

If issue still persists, the camera needs to be tested using the Dell Diagnostics.

  1. Switch on the computer, tap F12 at dell logo to enter “One-time boot menu”.
  2. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight “Diagnostics” and press enter.
  3. Run the Integraded_Webcam_1.3M test listed under USB section of the Custom Test.

Please post with the results.

Thank you Nikhil D.

I tried both of the steps you suggested and I still get "No supported webcam driver detected. Please install the webcam driver using the Dell Resource CD and launch  Webcam Center again." when I open Webcam Center.

I ran diagnostics on the Integrated Webcam 1.3M and all tests passed. I'm not sure what else I can do?

Hi ealmap,

Please check if the Webcam is detected in the Device Manager:

Steps to navigate to device manager:

  1. Click “start”.
  2. Type “Device Manager” in the search box.
  3. Select “Device Manager “in the list.
  4. Click the Imaging Devices.

If the webcam is detected in Device Manager under Imaging Devices, please uninstall the webcam drivers and restart the computer.

I would suggest downloading the webcam central from the below mentioned link: http://bit.ly/i8RkJO

Click the link and follow the onscreen instructions to download the Webcam Central Software.

Please try the above steps and reply.

ealmap,

Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the drivers in the correct order? How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Windows 7/8 is supposed to provide the webcam drivers for most Dell computers. If you system needs webcam drivers, go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag, then select your operating system. If your system needs webcam drivers, they'll be listed under Input.

Try reading...

Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software

You can try this file, also known as Dell Webcam Central.

Create a new unrestricted user account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?

If yes, log out and log back in to your account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?

If no, then the webcam became detached from the motherboard, usually near the webcam

If your computer is under warranty? If yes, click on the blue DELL-Nikhil D on the next page, start conversation and please provide the following...

First and last name

Shipping address

phone number

email address

sedrvice tag

Hi Rick!

Thank you for the guidance.  Unfortunately, nothing worked. I ended up contacting dell and explaining my situation for the 100th time.  Due to the multiple complaints and calls regarding the same issue, they went ahead and attempted to correct the problem for me.  Apparently, the drivers were corrupted and they had to wipe everything out and installed a later version.

Thanks again!!!

I'm having the same problem on a dell studio 1735 upgrade from Vista to win 7 ultimate 64 bit.. Seems, dell bought the program from other manufacture that sell to everybody. I was able to install the webcam, but need the drivers for video chat. Trying using your vista application installation disk, it might help

Hi Studio73,

Welcome to the Community,

If Webcam is getting detected in Device Manager under Imaging device then it may not be an issue with the driver.

May I know which application you are using for Video chat? Do you get any error message while trying to do a video chat?

Thank You

Hi eres_un_vago,

Welcome to the Community,

Did you reinstall Windows on your system? Is the Webcam getting detected in Device Manager under Imaging Device?

The Webcam drivers should automatically get installed with Windows 7.Try installing Webcam Central from this link:lt.dell.com/.../lt.aspx

Reboot system after installing and check if Webcam gets listed under Imaging Device. If Unknown Device is still listed, right click on it,select Properties  and post back the Hardware Id (Example VEN_XXXX and DEV_XXXX ).

May I also know your full system model.

Thank You

Hi eres_un_vago ,

Access Webcam Central application from All Programs and try to adjust display settings.

If that does not help try using the Webcam with different application(may be Skype or any other Video chat application) and check if issue persists.

Note:Make sure the surrounding/place where you're using the Webcam is not dark.

Thanks, I can view my image as look.

The webcam is not dark yet.
