Keyboard keys not working (Dell Inspiron)

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 and a majority of the top keys on the keyboard aren't working; more specifically the Q-R, and the U-P keys. I've had the computer for about 2 years now. I've had a previous keyboard issue in the past where I would type a the "I" key and it would type both the "I" and "O," but this was usually fixed by just restarting my computer.

I've tried the keyboard troubleshooting procedure, but that didn't solve anything. I'm considering buying a new keyboard for my laptop but I don't want to waste the money if it is an issue with wiring and not the keyboard itself. Does anybody have any clue on how to fix or test my issue?

Hello,

The keyboard of my Inspiron 15 5000 stopped working for a few minutes just a few days after I purchased it. It then worked for a few months and today the upper keys (Q, backspace) stopped working at all.

Per the other complains in this forums, it seems obvious to me that this keyboard is a really bad part. Dell has a good reputation with regards to the quality of their products, so I am expecting to hear from you   about the possibility of recalling these parts, at least.

Does Dell have any serious plan to offer a recall of such part or are you expecting us to go to a Fry's store and fix the problem by ourselves?

Thanks in advance,

Luis.

Same problem and I'm 9 days from being out of warranty. Laptop is useless at this point with rotten keyboard. Are you still a Dell employee?

Thanks for seaking TRUTH, at least now I feel heard lol. Excuse the tyos, that is because the letter that comes after O is not working on my keyboard, which is causing me to look illiterate!
