Latitude CPi D300XT

Just purchased online (ebay) - 12/15/05. Have router, card and all info to connect to internet. But, once I leave the area, I'm no longer able to go online w/o hitting a hot spot. Any suggestions? The reason I purchased a laptop is for portability, so I'm clearly missing a component

Welcome to the Forum,

WiFi 'wireless service' range is measured in hundreds of feet, if you want "anywhere" wireless service,
you will need to obtain (and subscribe @ about $60 Month for unlimited download) to a Verizon or
other company's wide area wireless service.

There will be a Verizon (or whatever brand you choose) PCMCIA Card to install in your CPi, these are
heavily discounted depending on length of your service contract.

Verizon (for one) supplies High-Speed Anywhere service in major metropolitan areas like Tampa or
Washington DC and a 'standard' (a little faster than 'dial-up) in outlying areas.

If you are already a subscriber to one of the 'Hot-Spot' WiFi Providers, it may be your best
deal to add their 'wide-area' service to your subscription, you will still need the hardware
in the form of a PCMCIA Card to access it.
