Latitude E5500 COM1 Port and Windows 7

Recently I moved my OS to Windows 7 for a Latitude E5500. However my COM1 Port is not available anymore.

I applied all Dell system updates but the COM1 Port is still out.

I noticed that IRQ and Addresses normally setup for COM is allocated by other system devices and there is no IRQ\Addresses available for it.

Could someone help? I already contact DELL Support but no solution was found for this issue.

Regards,

I found another thread and was able to fix the problem by rolling my BIOS back, I had recently updated it and when I rolled it back, the port worked fine.

No. I suppose DELL is not interest in this case. They sent me the information to downgrade W7 to WXP to get serial on again.

I suppose DELL enginners will find out the problem in BIOS A17 and release a A18 concerning COM problem. I looking forward for this.
