M1330 display

I have a Dell XPS M1330 with a Geoforce M8400 GS chip.  I have had a problem with the graphics before that necessitated them replacing the motherboard with the M8400 chip.  This time I again have a problem but I am not sure whether it is software, screen, or the M8400 chip.  The internal display shows a broad B/W stripe down the middle of the screen that is about 200 pixels wide.  Elsewhere the display is fine.  Moreover the image on an external display via the video out is perfect as is the display via the HDMI output.  Do you have any suggestions?

Do you know where I can get a new display panel new or used for how much?

The display panel is faulty - that will need to be replaced.

Somewhere between $150-250 depending on the backlight type (LCD backlight more expensive).  You can't interchange the two without replacing the back cover and bezel to the screen.
