MaxxSense, how to get it
Hi guys,
i had some problem with the driver audio of my dell xps 15, so today i have decided to download and install the driver again from dell.it, i got this driver 9530_Audio_Driver_H4TDV_WN_6.0.1.7054_A01.exe but after installation i lost the MaxxSense and the Equalizer, i have just MaxxAudio 3, please could you help me? how can restore the MaxxSense?

Hello. As you know MaxxSense and MaxxEQ are among the features of the WavesMaxx software which is bundled with Realtek driver downloads and is accessible through the Dell (Realtek) Audio Manager. I don't know which exact features are included with each driver, but if your current WavesMaxx is lacking features that you think it is supposed to have then you should try another driver.
You did not include the model name of your laptop or its operating system but if the Realtek 6.0.1.7054 is the correct driver for your laptop then it must be an XPS 15 9530 with Win8.1. If that is correct there is one other driver compatible with that configuration, the Realtek 6.0.1.7035.
To install that one you should first completely remove the current driver. Open the Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the Windows search box) and expand "Sound, video and game controllers". Right click on the Realtek and select to uninstall. Put a check mark in the option to remove the driver software, and then ok. When you reboot, Windows will either install its own native driver or another Realtek driver if there were any other versions on the hard drive. So go back to the Device Manager and check for a Realtek driver. Keep uninstalling & rebooting until Realtek no longer appears and is replaced by High Definition Audio Device (the native audio driver). Then download and install the Realtek driver.
If the WavesMaxx bundled with that driver also lacks the features you want, you could try a driver directly from the Realtek site. However if you had the features when the laptop was brand new and it is an XPS 15 9530 with Win8.1, the only Realtek driver that would have been factory installed should be one of the 2 mentioned here. If not one of those then it might require a system recovery to reacquire those features.

Hi Jimco,
thank you for your reply, i followed your suggestion and i fixed my issue in this way:
1) Uninstall Realtek driver with putting a check mark in the option to remove the driver software
2) Reboot Windows
3) Install the driver 9530_Audio_Driver_H4TDV_WN_6.0.1.7054_A01 downloaded from the Dell website

Thanks for posting in the Forum. Have you tried uninstalling then re-installing the MaxxSense program? That should restore it. Thanks

Please post if you find a successful install process. This has been brought up before in the forums and affects a number of dell laptop products.
The only way I know to keep the higher optioned maxsense version is to use the factory dell install, or re-image the dell factory OS from the disk image written to a USB stick that is generated by the dell Backup and recovery program. I learned the hard way that losing that image means a clean install via a windows disk and some features are just not included. (This applies even to the windows disks provided by Dell as backups.)
Dell provided Realtek drivers installed over clean installs do NOT result in the same capability in maxxsense compared to the Dell factory OS install.
So keep that factory image generated by Dell backup and recovery - you will need it. I suggest making more than one copy - in case one of the USB sticks fails or is mistakenly overwritten.

A further note to my post..
If you have Maxxsense as installed on the Dell factory image, and then merely update the drivers (even those from the Dell site), you will very likely 'downgrade' the maxxsense options too.
