Mouse, keyboard disabled at startup, won't reboot in safe mode, ran diagnostics- OK, Dell Ultrabook

Yesterday, I downloaded a new antivirus program and found some problem files. Deleted those, and everything ran fun--until I rebooted my computer. Now, it takes forever to boot, and when it reaches the desktop screen, my mouse won't work, keyboard won't work, and there's a message saying the 'trial version' of my anti-malware program has expired (note: it's an open source program that doesn't require registration). Ctrl+Alt+Del does NOT work, either. Ran diagnostics (the kind you get to by pressing F-something during booting?) and everything checked out OK. Even ran the extended memory scan, and no issues were flagged

Tried booting in safe mode, and the same thing happens-- nonfuctional mouse or keyboard, Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work, either.

Can't find the Windows 7 operating system CD.....I did find the one with drivers and utilities, but after the initial startup screens it only goes into a command prompt for the A drive.

Totally at a loss, here. Can anybody help?

Hi joy_m_n,

As the hardware diagnostics has passed the issue is with the Operating system.

You may try a factory restore:

****NOTE: Backup data before following the above procesure.

Use the following link to request backup disks (US):

Let me know how it goes.

you gotta get into MSCONFIG and disable old malware software... running two security programs at the same time causes problems. only have ONE!!  then come here for your drivers and re install mouse/kb touch pad

Thanks for the suggestions, but how would I do ANY of those things (i.e. backup data, use MSCONFIG) if I am UNABLE to boot in Safe Mode, AND when I boot in regular mode, I can't type or select any options??

I really DO need the documents on my laptop, so a complete factory reset isn't an option unless I can back up files. I can't back up the files if everything freezes completely on startup.

Hi joy_m_n,3

May I know the system model?

You can contact a local technician for data backup.

Or you can use the hard drive in a different computer and check if you can back up data.

Refer the following Video to run diagnostics on the computer:
