Dear sir

thank you for the links above , one of them solved my problem with my dell inspiron , 2 usb ports out of 3 were not working since I bought it , but now the 3 are working and I hope they continue so . I just have a question : is this a common problem for this model of dell laptops or what ??? I notice it is repeated , or is it just a matter of software ??

Thanks again for the support.

Terry, I made a DELL account just to say thank you. I've been looking and looking for a way to fix the non-working USB ports on a brand new n5110 laptop but to no avail. Only one 2.0 port worked and I was forced to go with an usb hub.

The second driver link you recommended finally did the job: extracted and installed smoothly and all my ports (2.0 and 3.0) worked even without having to reboot! Wow!

Wishing you all the best and thanks again!

Marton,

I got the same problem with my vostro 3450 and I ended up getting a replacement daughter card from Dell.

Hi Terry... I'm using windows 8 in my N5110 laptop. The 2 USB ports 3.0 are not working. I couldn't get the drivers from dell website. Can you help me please..

The solution is not difficult: your laptop has advanced energy management.

At the right in your taskbar, left-click on the battery-icon, select More Options

Look for your active EnergyManagementSchedule and
Select Change Settings (or something like that)

Select Change Advanced Energy settings (I'm translating from Dutch, it could be slightly different)

Click on the + for USB-settings

Click on the + for settings for selective USB-interruption

Turn off both options

That was it for my N5110 USB
