NO Sleep/Hibernate options upon XP upgrade of inspiron 5100

Just reformatted my 2003 inspiron 5100 and loaded a windows XP-Sp2 on it. And the only power modes are ON and OFF(shutdown). No sleep, No hibernate!! Does anyone else have this problem?

i have a sleep button apart from the power button, but nothing happens when i hit it.  Start->Turn-Off Computer only gives Shut-Down option. Standby is greyed out :(

any help much appreciated!!

You need to install the notebook system software and the chipset driver.

support.dell.com, enter service tag, choose Downloads.

Did you ever get the problem solved? I have the same problem (XP Home to XP Pro upgrade), have downloaded and installed all updated drivers in the order recommended by Dell and hibernate/standby options are not available anymore. It also seems like the sensor that used to detect a closed screen (used to have the system hibernate) does nothing.

I downloaded the Quickset, selected enable hibernation, but the settings never remain in effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if anyone else out there has had a similar issue and found a solution to it, please let me know!
