Power button LED & system LED not working.
Hi,
I bought an Inspiron 15 3542 laptop and it works fine; the Power button has an LED which never lights up; also, the system LED at the right bottom (front of the laptop), does not light up all the time. It only lights up in white when I start the laptop from sleep or shutdown.
Is this a design flaw or is something wrong with the laptop? I have never seen the Power button LED light up, which is annoying since the keyboard area is always dark without any lights; I have a HP Pavilion which has many blue LEDs on the surface and front of the laptop, so I find it weird not to have any lights on the Dell.
Please advise.
Thanks

There is no LED on the power button of most of the mid-range and lower-end Inspirons. The LED on the front edge of the system should light when the system is charging, but most of these do not have an always-on power LED (you can thank Apple for the lack of system LEDs -- they started the trend and the PC vendors have followed it).

If it's like most of the systems in this range, it just looks like there should be an LED -- there's no reference to an LED in the system setup guide.

Hi,
I have also bought Dell Inspiron 3458 laptop and when i tried to power ON the same the LED is not flashing in the Power button. I am not sure whether LED is there in the Power Button or not. Do i need to report this to DELL?
Can you please advise.
Thanks,
Srini
