Power Problems for the E1505

I currently have a couple year old Dell Inspiron E1505. It's served me pretty well but true to murphy's law as soon as the warrenty ran up the problems started. It started where I had to hold the AC adapter at odd angles to get it to charge. But all the wiggling into place took it's toll and I had to replace my adapter last year. I was also getting those "AC adapter not properly seated blah blah blah Push F1". I looked it up and it seemed like that was pretty common. I got a new adapter and it seemed to work fine for a while. Then the new adapter stopped charging the battery and the light wouldn't come on. I had a friend tell me that 65W might not be powerful enough. So I got a new battery but it turned out that one of the little prongs on the adapter had broken off and was rattling around inside the power brick. So I just bought my third AC adapter (90W) and it lasted 3 days before the light stopped working on this one. I already contacted the people that I bought the adapter from and they are sending a replacement but after reading a million and a half threads like this one, I have to say I'm pretty worried for my motherboard. I wouldn't say that I'm computer illiterate but I'm hardly an electrical savante. Is there some way that I can check the motherboard or power plug on the laptop before I get this new adapter?
