Problem with graphics on Inspiron 9300

Yesterday I recieved my Inspiron 9300 (had an Inspiron 1100 before). It's a great Notebook and I'm happy that i decided to buy it.   But i have a little problem with displaying gif-images and desktop-icons and with some fonts in some programs (e.g. Net Objects Fusion). They don't appear correctly. That means, that they appear, of course I can see them. But they are not really sharp. But all the other fonts and grapics like jpeg-images are displayed correctly.   I have an ATI X300 and already put on the actual driver, but that didn't fix the proplem.   Anybody here who knows about?

Here a re some well known fixes.

1.First make sure your DPI is set to 96 then make sure you have clear type selected to do this right click a empty space on your desktop select properties click the appearence tab then the effects make sure clear type is selected in the pull down in the second box.Click the settings tab then advanced set DPI to 96.

2.Open internet explorer click tools then select internet options then the advanced tab under multi menia catagory uncheck the box nex to automatic image resize.

3.Click start then run type in regedit then click ok or hit enter under HKEY_CURRENT_USER Click the + on the following

+ Software

+ Microsoft

+ Internet explorer

( Doubke click ) Main

scroll down on the right side almost to the bottom and find USEHR = dword:00000001 Double click on it a box will pop up on the uper left corner just change the value to 0 Then click all the + to collapse all exit regestry and reboot.

That will do it you have clear images in internet explorer now.

I also recomend this nifty little download which will drasticly improve your text also on your LCD it is called clear type tuner http://www.microsoft.com/typography/ClearTypePowerToy.mspx

Ok, thank you!    It worked with the registry. But now, most websites in internet explorer are very much smaller (only the websites, not the browser itself). Or if the fonts aren't, the graphics are smaller everything.   Do you also know a possibility to fix that? Changing the resolution didn't work and it's also not really that what i like to do ;) .

Also open internet explorer click view then text size select largest or when your are on a webpage press Ctrl and use your mouse scrill wheel up or down.

Which display do you have?On laptops your native resolution is the only display which is displayed perfect. Anything set at a lower resolution then your native resolution will not display as crisp and clear.If it is too small for your eyes and not comfortable on your eyes i would recomend returning it within your 21 day returne period and reorder a display which is comfortable on your eyes.

That i've already tried. The only thing that happens is, that the rows have a larger distance, but the fonts it self are still the same small.

Wait you wat to change your font size.Right click a empty space on your desktop click properties then appearence tab change to large or extra large.For more custom settings from there click advanced and whewe it says desktop click the pulldown and you can make changes from there also.

Thanky you very much vor your advices. But the problem aren't the windows, it are the things insinde oft them.

Here, thats a screenshot. The Fonts on the website are much very smalle before chaning the options in the regedit. But if I change it again, the problem with the graphic appears again.

EDIT; I've also just seen, that some fonts, e.g. Verdana are not displayed correctly in internet explorer. In programs like Net Object Fusion they appear correctly, but they also don't in Word.

EDIT 2: I just have set the things in regedit back to "1". Now the website in the screenshot below appears like it should... But yeah, ther's the problem with the graphics again.

EDIT 3: My notebook does not like me :smileywink: . Now the thing described in EDIT 2 isn't there anymore. Now the website is again with the small fonts. I understand nothing anymore...

Ups, it seems like i didn't have a look at the thing with the 96 dpi. Now everything ist alright, also the thing with verdana. An now all websites ar displayed correctly like it should be. So it seems, than before the webistes itself appeard with the 96 dpi, but not the browser window. So now it is like i should be. It's small, but everthing is small like the same. So like that it is possible ti work with it :smileyhappy: .
