problems exiting standby mode -- LCD screen will not turn on

I have a latitude x300 and about 50% of the time when I exit standby mode, my computer will obviously come back to life, but the LCD screen will not. It remains black, as if it is receiving no power. The only way to get the LCD screen back is to power cycle the computer. That works, but not very efficient... I have also tried fn F8 to try to force the LCD screen to come back on, but that doesn't work either. I recently reformated my hard drive, reinstalled the operating sytem, and updated all the drivers (yes, the BIOS is the latest as well), and none of this helped solve this problem. Have any of you seen this or do any of you have any possible solutions for me to try? Thanks for any advice that you can give.

Did you get your screen problem resolved? I have a similar problem with my Latitude CPiA. Screen comes back up but is froze. I also have to power down and reboot to get it to work. Please let me know if you found an answer?

No solution yet. I have contemplated trying a Windows repair to see if re-writing parts fo the registry would solve it. That could work, but it seems like a long shot, so I haven't tried it yet. I'm also a bit surprised a forum administrator hasn't even taken a shot at answering the query...
