This could be caused by pressure from an incorrectly mounted LCD. While disassembling and reassembling the LCD could correct it, we recommend contacting Dell to have the LCD replaced under warranty than attempt this yourself.

Is there any way to adjust the rotation of the imamge (like on CRT's)? If so, that would fix it because all sides are the same in their extra space.

I have the same thing here. The left is higher than the right, and the bottom is shifted to the left while the top is shifted to the right. And I don't think we can adjust it with a setting. Post the screen you bought (see my sig) and maybe we can find something in common.

Exagerated? Definitely, but we humans like pictures better. And I didn't notice it until I saw this topic, thanks for pointing it out.

I have a similar problem on my 8500, but it occured recently (before this it was perfectly straight).

various bits have been replaced (screen, entire top part and finally the videocard).

It's improved, but not fully corrected. I am trying to find a logical answer to the problem!

You must be used to the slightly crooked image? I found that if I get a precision ruler, and place it along the bottom of the screen, it's slightly higher on the left. The actual line itself is straight, and the gap on the top right corresponds with the left being raised slightly. The LCD panel itself is slightly crooked in the housing _somehow_

Mine has only just become like this, so it's taking a little bit of getting used to for me. However, I don't think I should have to put up with it considering the cost of the machine! An apple user would never tolerate the slightest variance! (neither would Apple). However, before service it was much worse! How bad is yours?

Mine was crooked when I got it and I didn't notice it until I looked closely. I have gotten used to it but I wish it could be straight. With the experience of trying to get my keyboard fixed I just decided to not go ahead with it.

I'm really sorry to hear that. It's a really frustrating problem, having a really great computer with such an annoying fault.

I really don't think you should accept these conditions, i believe it's a fault and I won't accept that we should just put up with it.

There must be a solution and I urge anybody with experience or knowledge of this issue to help us work through it. There must be a logical reason for why and how this problem occurs.

Also, if people with 8500/8600 computers could confirm that their own screen is straight (that the edges of the screen are inline with the case along the base of the screen, with no variance).

This forum is really a last resort for me, as Dell have been so far unable to give me any answers or totally correct the problem. I have no complaint about the service, but the idea that such a problem exists with no solution bothers me -- there MUST be a solution. It's a computer!
