slight fall damaged the screen and chassi

I own a Inspiron 640 m which I bought due to the claim it is a road worrier and has re-enforced corners.

My laptop fell when it was in a original dell backpack. The fall would have been a one foot. To my surprise the corner of the laptop got damaged. The screen hinge opened and the body also has a damage. I am very dissapointed about this as I have always used Dell Laptops which have gone through worse and survived.

So what's the lesson here? Don't drop your laptop.

Believe it or not, the vast majority of laptops aren't designed to withstand such mistreatment.

But when a laptop is classified road warrior it has four main things - light

weight, long battery, mobile connectivity and reinforced edges to guard against
small drops and knocks.

It's not a ruggedized notebook - for that you should have purchaed the Latitude ATG, or a Panasonic Toughbook.  They are designed to withstand abuse - ordinary notebooks are not.

Also just to clarify Road Warrior never meant it was more resistant to physical torture. Road Warrior refers to the exceptional computing power beneficial to using it while traveling.
