SM Bus Controller driver unknown. Under "Other devices"
Hi,
I installed Windows 7 64-bit on my Dell Latitude E6420 and have so far successfully installed all but one of the needed drivers. The biggest problem I have is my SM Bus Controller is recognized as "Other Devices" with the yellow question mark. I thought that was included in the chipset driver that I got from the Dell website but apparently not.
Please help. in the meantim looking over DELL, Intel Website for a solution.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi There
The issue could be that the drivers really have to be installed in a specific order. The exclamation mark next to the SM Bus Controller really is a common issue if this has not been done. The best advice I can give, is make sure after a clean install of windows 7, all drivers are installed in the exact order as follows:
System Utilities - Dell System Software
Chipset Drivers - Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility
Dell Data Protection Applications - Dell Data Protection Midware Package
Dell Data Protection Applications - Dell Data Protection Driver Package
Video Drivers - Nvidia NVS 4200M
Audio Drivers - IDT 92HDxxx HD Audio
Serial ATA Drivers - Intel Rapid Storage Technology
Chipset Drivers - O2Micro OZ600xxx Memory Card
Chipset Drivers - Intel Unified AMT 7 Management Interface Driver
Chipset Drivers - ST Microelectronics Free Fall Sensor
Network Drivers - Intel 825xx Gigabit Platform LAN Network Device
Network Drivers - Intel WiFi Link 6xxx Series WLAN Half-Mini Card
Network Drivers - Intel WiMAX Link 6250
Communication Drivers - Conexant D330,HDA,MDC,v.92 Modem
Communication Drivers - Dell Wireless 5550 HSPA Mini Card
Network Applications - Dell Wireless 375 Bluetooth Module
Input Drivers - Dell Multi-Touch Touchpad
Input Applications - eGalax EMPIA EETI Multi-Touchscreen
Chipset Drivers - NEC USB3.0

Hi,
I had the same problem a few minutes ago, and resolved it by re-installing 'DRVR_Chipset_Intel_A00-CPNKY_setup_ZPE'
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/555/GetDriver/OtherFileFormats/Product/latitude-e5530?driverId=CPNKY&FileId=3292011211&osCode=W764
Above URL is the driver for your Windows 7 64-bit system.
I hope I helped you, or other people with this.
Kind regards,
General Lee
