touchpad left and right scroll not working, only up and down scroll

i have an inspiron 6000. the up and down scroll on my touchpad work but the left and right scroll on the touchpad doesn't. anyone having the same problem with the touchpad scroll? dell told me to update the touchpad but still it doesn't work. i ran the diagnostic and extended test and mouse test passed but still i'm unable to use the left and right scroll on the touchpad. i check the gesture setting and i only see a check for up and down but not for left and right.
