Touchpad settings/changes - NO icon or option within mouse settings to make changes
I have a Dell D630 (Latitude) laptop and I want to disable the touchpad and use the eraser like mouse only. On my previous Dell there was a touchpad icon in the Control Panel (like the mouse icon) which allowed me to change the settings/disable, etc. With this laptop there is no touchpad icon and NO tab in the mouse icon/settings that would allow me to change touchpad settings. Firstly, am I missing an icon or settings tab/option for the touchpad and if I am or not, how do I disable the touchpad if I can't get to any settings/options anywhere? do I need to download a driver or application or whatever? Help!

I have the same problem: There is no touchpad settings icon in the task bar, and no settings function in the control panel mouse properties.
This is Windows 7, running on Latitude E6400. The driver is up to date ... I just checked ... so don't tell me about updating the driver.
I also checked msconfig, and "Alps pointing-device Driver" is checked as a start-up item.
The icon used to be there ... I remember. (And there was a time when I didn't have to type with extreme care to keep the cursor from running all over the place). Some download, whatever, must have killed it. How do i get it back?
Thank you
