Hi thegreaestone,

Did you try the steps given in previous post?

If you get the any error message even after installing the drivers, please share the error message and screenshot (if possible).

Please reply with information.

Hi pablotandil,

You can install the chipset drivers and follow the steps from the previous post (for XPS L502X) and see if it helps.

Please reply with information.

If you go onto Intel Driver Update Utility www.intel.com/.../detect It is the intel wiusb driver and it should fix your problem

I had this problem and because I have phone support  the Dell tech man took over my machine remotely, and deleted the driver (!).  When he ran 'detect new hardware' nothing happened and the item was missing from device manager. When I protested he really did nothing.  Whatever I do I can't get it back.  Any ideas how to get it back anybody???

I am having the same problem on an Inspiron 17R SE that I just got three weeks ago. I have gone to the Dell drivers page for my Service Tag, and have updated everything in the list using the Dell Update Manager for Windows 8. The USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller still shows an exclamation.

Should I delete it from the Device Manager and re-boot hoping it picks up the right one? A scan of C: did not turn up a more up-to-date driver.

Unless it is handled by the general chipset driver, the only one in your list that does not ring a bell is the WiDi, and it doesn't show up in the list for my system, that is sorted for Windows 8 drivers.

I am hesitant going straight to a driver that is in a Dell forum list and not being recommended as needed by my Service Tag.

Is it safe to follow these steps for my machine?

Thanks,

Cragg

Hi,

I have found a solution to this problem. If you go to the Intel Driver Update Utility then it will scan your computer for missing drivers. Install any drivers that it comes up with and it should solve this problem. Hope this helps.
