Warning: The battery cannot be identified error message

Started receiving the error message at startup

"warning The battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge this battery press any key to continue"

I did search the Internet and this forum but have not find any workable solution. My latop came with BIOS version 2.1.0 A07, tried to refresh the BIOS with the same version, and higher versions all the way to version A15 but no luck.

The battery does hold charge and the message disappear if I remove the battery and bootup with the AC adapter alone.

OS vista 32 bit
Laptop: Inspiron 1501

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunately the problem of not starting, crashing and intermittent no battery recognition has returned. Everything else works OK.

When running off the battery it sometimes wont start without vigorous pressing of the start button and after turning on it will often attempt to boot then instantly switch off (crash). Removing the battery and refitting will get it to power on, but it will often switch off soon after the boot sequence has finished. Starting with psu connected helps solve these problems, but the intermittent no battery recognition is always a threat. Any advice welcome.

Update:

Seems to be very intermittent as its working OK this morning.

Hello Everyone,

I have Dell XPS M1530 laptop. My laptop  is giving some warning "Warning: The battery cannot be identified ............................". Also My system is unable to identify the battery and is working only with AC adaptor. Hence when I remove the AC adaptor, the system turn off at that moment. On battery icon also it shows No battery detected.

Does anybody know how to fix this issue ????????? I tried downloading new BIOS version but when I tried running the BIOS, It prompts me a message that Both AC adapter and battery should be plugged in while they are already plugged in.  I don't whats wrong wid my lappy.... Any help would be much appreciable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While using my Vostro 1000 I forgot to plug in mt AC adapter and ran out of power. I was actully streaming live video at the time and needed power. I could not locate my AC adapter, grabing my friends AC adaptor rebooted and returned to streaming. After the show I found my AC adaptor right where I left it. Now from that point on I received the"warning The battery cannot be identified. This system will be unable to charge this battery press any key to continue". Ok I thought I burnt my motherboard because my friends AC Adapter may have been to powerful. After much misgivings and a little research I update the Bios. Success!!! message is gone...Thank you God! The only real suggestion I could give would to be sure your flashing your Bios with one created for your machine. Wow that was a peice of cake. I remember flashing the bios much more work and a timing thing....ha

I hope the bios update resolves your issue... Good luck
