Windows 7 and Dell Bluetooth 355 driver

I have a dell xps m1330 with the above bluetooth module inside.  I recently updated to windows 7 rc1 (64 bit) and everything is working great except for this.  i cannot seem to find a driver that will get this to work.  Has anyone had any luck getting their bluetooth module to work with windows 7?  any help is much appreciated.

I am having a similar problem on my Dell 1525 on 32 bit.  Bluetooth worked fine after the W.7 upgrade but then something I did or some software update cratered bluetooth.

I am looking for any help here.  If someone talks about the Dell 355 bluetooth upgrade using the 64 bit fix, please give me a link on where to find it.

Thanks in advance.

Well, to save folks time, here are some things I learned.  The DellTpad utility appeared to help when I switched off the touch area.  However, it was not permanent.  After about 30 minutes of use my mouse still stopped working.  Now, I still think it makes the mouse last a bit longer, but it is not a solution.

I tried a different BT mouse.  It stopped just like the first one.

The mouse can be revived by switching off BT (with the physical switch), waiting until you hear the sound from the system indicating the hardware disconnect, and then switching back on again.  You get maybe another 10 minutes before the BT switches off again.  Pretty sad.

Sometimes the BT driver shows that it is off.  No driver, no BT symbol in the mini-icons of the toolbar.  Other times the BT driver stays on, claims to be working, and the BT enumerator is available - but the mouse is not working, and the enumerator does not actually find anything.

Dell, are you listening?  Trying to fix your drivers?  Thanks!

I'm going to try a BT headset, see if it has the same problems as the mouse.

I have a Vostro 1500 with the Dell Wireless 355 bluetooth module.  I upgraded to Windows 7 64bit which is not supported by Dell.  I have got everthing working again including the nVidia graphics card, touchpad etc.

For the Bluetooth I have downloaded R226750 for the XPS Studio 16 which seems to work just fine even though it is supposed to be for a 370 module.  Only problem is that if I turn off the adaptor, the BT icon disappears from the tray - I have created a shortcut to allow me to switch it on again.

Only remaining problem with my setup is the wireless switch no longer opens the wireless finder.  This is a Quickset function and there doesn't appear to be a version of Quickset that works reliably with W7 64bit.

I am another with a 355 driver which will not work with Windows 7.   I have uninstalled, reinstalled, and done everything to  get my mouse to work.  I fix it and it works for about 30 minutes, then Bluetooth stops working with a Code 43 error.  Dell, are you there?  What's the problem with your computers?

When is this going to be fixed Dell?  Windows 7 has been RTM since August and in stores for a while now.  The 355 driver from 2007 for Vista DOES NOT WORK with Windows 7!  I'm running the 32bit on my Inspiron 1720 and I am unable to use the official Broadcomm drivers (which have been working apparently for months now) due to the proprietary modifications for the hardware.  WE NEED AN UPDATED DRIVER!

Sorry for the rant, but this is getting ridiculous.  I've been online with support a few times trying to solve this.  I finally resorted to some of the hacks that were rported to work (installing the 370 driver) but no joy.  What good is my Bluetooth headset without the ability to use it?  Please, help out the frustrated users!

Just found this patch to wake up the BlueTooth. Worked for me on my XPS M1330 and Windows 7;

I installed this update and the Bluetooth interface to my cell phone seems to work OK now.  The only drawback is that I use a Dell Inspiron 1525 that has a switch to turn on wifi & bluetooth.  Now when I turn that on, the wifi and bluetooth both work but I thought that before this got broken from Vista to W7 that I could turn off and on the bluetooth by right clicking the bluetooth icon.  Now, that option is no longer there.  I am a little concerned that there will be an extra power drain by having bluetooth on all the time when I only need it to synch my cell phone.

Any thoughts on this or am I missing something?

Thanks for your posted fix.

My options on right clicking bluetooth icon are:

Add a Device
Allow a device to communicate (grayed out)
Show bluetooth devices
Send a file
Receive a file
Join a personal area network
Open settings
Remove icon

Digging into these, none let me turn off the bluetooth connection and turn it back on.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

I can still turn Bluetooth off and on by right-clicking the icon on the system tray.  If the icon isnt there then you have to enable it with a short-cut to BTTray.exe.  Works for me with my Vostro 1500.

I get different options:

Add a Device
Allow a device to communicate (grayed out)
Show bluetooth devices
Send a file
Receive a file
Join a personal area network
Open settings

Turn adaptor off
Remove icon

I have Widcomm Bluetooth Software 6.2.0.9600 installed according to the Programs Uninstall list but under Systems Devices the driver is 6.2.0.4600.

My drivers are older.

Widcomm Bluetooth Software 6.0.1.3100 in Programs Uninstall

Dell Truemobile 355 BT + EDR 6.1.7600 16385 in Device Drivers

I don't know how to get newer ones.  Dell update available only works for Vista platform and will not install under W7.

Any ideas??

I guess I missed that step. Fantastic!  Now I have the option to turn-off Bluetooth.

Device drivers show 6.1.7600 16385

Program Uninstall has advanced to 6.2.0.9600

Thanks so much and have a Merry Christmas!

with regard to the ANYCOM driver download link not working, I found an alternative source at some russian site and have put it here:

http://cid-9baa570bebc339c8.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/.Public?lc=3081

if anyone still needs it there you go. please note i have NOT TESTED it myself yet. File should be clean, scanned with Avira Antivir Personal with latest defs. The file will be available for download forever, unless SkyDrive goes down or something.

its unlikely i will visit this forum much so if anyone have trouble with this download in future, email me at: shr00mskd@gmail.com so i can fix it.

The R226750 drivers refuse to install on my machine (XPS M1530).  Might help some of us, but not all.
