ENTER KEY not working with Adobe products...
Ok, so Im going to join the crowd of people who's enter key is not working. I have a new Vostro 1720 that Ive had for a few weeks now. I have Adobe CS4 suite installed and originally had an external keyboard and mouse hooked up to it so I wasnt aware of the problem. The moment I removed them and used the actual keyboard for the laptop is when I noticed it..
In Photoshop or InDesign whenever I press the enter key after typing a sentence two things happen..
Photoshop - after pressing enter after a sentence , it will deselect it and some how select the font section.
In Design - after pressing enter after a sentence, it has the effect as if I were to have press enter about 50,000 times.. the text below literally vanishes.
I cant figure this out and have downloaded drivers and updated many things, yet nothing is working.
Please help!

Can anyone help me? Still cant get photoshop and indesign to use the enter key because of the keyboard or problem with it.. Any help would be great. Thanks

Thank you for sharing this. I use adobe softwares as well but not on my laptop. I'll see if it does the same thing for my inspiron.
Did it make any difference when you turned on the NUM LOCk?

I have had EXACTLY the same problem. I discovered a work around accidentally by experimenting. If you hold down the blue function key while you press enter, it will insert a paragraph break as it should. If you hold function+shift+return, it will insert a forced line break as it should. I have read several other forums looking for someone who has encountered this issue, and in my research I believe that the problem may be related to the way that dell configured the Vostro 1720. Apparently, a new feature in Adobe CS is that the enter key on the keyboard is supposed to act as normal, but the enter key on the number pad is supposed to "commit changes." My theory is that when Dell integrated the number pad on this laptop model, it may have set it up in such a fashion that both keys work exactly the same way, and so Adobe products cannot differentiate between a keyboard return and a number pad return. Why the function key fixes the problem, I have no idea. I am going to pursue this further with Dell...
Update: Had a text chat with a Dell customer service rep, but they said that it was a software issue and referred me to their PAID advanced software support group. I doubt that this is an Adobe issue. I still believe it has something to do with the way that Dell configured this laptop's keyboard inputs. Disappointed.
