Freezing problem
Hello,
My laptop has Intel HD graphics (default), and also AMD Radeon HD 6470M graphics processor. They are configured by "switchable graphics" method.
My laptop is facing a technical issue from long time, but I am conscious about it recently.
When ever I keep my laptop in sleep mode for more than 15minutes, and awake it from sleep mode, my screen used to freeze. Mouse, keyboard nothing responded.
I tried uninstalling the drivers of graphics processors and re-installing them, but it's of no use.
Then one day, in configure switchable graphics window, I configured "explorer.exe" to run with Intel graphics, instead of running on AMD. This worked perfectly. From then, my screen never freezed even if i put my laptop in sleep mode.
But recently, what i observed is that, all the applications that I configured to run on AMD are not running when I wake my system from sleep mode. So, I am guessing that the AMD processor is not responding when i wake my system from sleep mode ( that is the reason, maybe, my system used to freeze until I configured 'explorer.exe' to run on Intel graphics).
What should I do now to this problem? I still have International warranty.

Have you verifed that the AMD Radion GPU is working at all? Configure the system to use the AMD card and see if there are any problems.
If you can't get the graphics at all using the AMD GPU then yeah I suggest having the video card / system board replaced. If
If the AMD GPU is working, just not after sleep, then it is unlikely replacing it will help. I would suggest completely uninstalling the video driver and then installing the latest driver from support.dell.com for your notebook and the 6470m.

Hello Terry
Thank you for your reply. I have done as you have said. I configured my laptop to run completely on AMD card. It worked fine for sometime, until I put my laptop to sleepmode. When my laptop woke from sleep mode, the system was running too slow. Applications are opening very late, some applications getting freezed, system performance at that time was very poor. But when I restart my system completely, again the performance is normal like before.
What might be the problem and what should I do now?

Do you remember a time since having the notebook that you didn’t have the problem with sleep mode? Does the system ever hand after booting from a cold boot? If you are only having the problem after waking from sleep that is a software issue.
Do you remember a time after getting the system when you could place the notebook in sleep and resume and not have the problem? From your original post it sounds like it has been a while that you have had the problem, otherwise I would suggest trying system restore, using a restore point where you knew the problem didn't exist. If that isn't an option, you have a choice, either shut the system fully down when leaving the notebook; continue dealing with the system hanging after resuming from sleep, or trying to reimage the drive.
I suggest trying PC restore first, it is easier and faster. Once completed place the notebook in sleep and let it wait for 15 minutes then resume from sleep. If the system doesn't hang then you know that you corrected the problem. Be careful with installing your software, I suggest one program at a time and then test. That way if the system starts hanging again you can get an idea as to what caused it, but the last programs that you installed.
If PC Restore doesn't help or isn't available and you still decide to reimage, then manul reinstalling will be the only option. For more on system and PC restore, and manual reinstalling please check out the following link.

I hope that this helps.
