overheating problem?
hello, i have a dell inspiron 15R N5010 and it overheats unusually...
it used to take about an hour or two to start to get hot. now it takes like 20 in to get burning hot. so say, i had it on a hard, dry well vented area, it heats up in like 30 min. but a while ago, it was if i had it on like a blanket, it would heat up after an hour or so.
i got this laptop in auguast 2010. i have not taken it to get it cleaned and i have tried to manually clean it but it would break if i took it apart. it was recently taken in like 6 months ago summer 2011 to get a part fixed. they had to have taken it apart and clean it.
so... what does this mean? does it have to do with like page fileing? like does using up space on my harddrive quickly make it do that of what?
i really dont know and this is scaring me, i dont want to like destroy it, someone please help me!!!!
Bryce

um, i tried to open it like a onth ago, and i found if i did open it, i would break some bit and i dont want that. so, it may be the "heatsink" your talking about. i did blow in the intake on the fan about a week ago and it seems to be a little less hot now.
and no, i have not gotten a message about it overheating. it just is really hot and it lags a bit more then usuall.
um whats the "update bios" supposed to mean?

ok. so last night i cleaned it out. it ran wayyy better once i cleaned out the fan. it was very very VERY little dust. and i ran "BIOS" from that link you sent me. i ran it and it did the stuffs and it restarted and i dont see much difference, but i think it works better now. and once it started bios, it slowly stared to speed up the fan, to the max in the end. and it was quiet, but very fast. and i am wondering, is there anyway to command windows to run the fan faster? or even faster for certian things?
