Upgrading memory inspiron 1520
Hello, I bought from a friend an old inspiron 1520. I want to upgrade the memory. Currently I have two slots with 512mb each one. I acquired one 2gb module (ddr2, 667mhz, sodimm). I tried to install it by replacing one of 512 for this one. I didn't work. The laptop only recognized the other one of 512mb. What am I doing wrong? Can I do this or I should give up the other one of 512 and just use the 2gb module in order to make it work?
The OS is Windows Vista Home Basic. When I press F2 after turning on the machine, the BIOS said this: due to an amount of memory being assigned for system use, memory available is less than memory installed.
Please help me.

JDZARATE,
I would recommend using just the 2Gb module. Apparently, the 512mb module is not of the same type. The 1520 can use either PC2-5300 SODIMMs or PC2-6400 SODIMMs. The two types should be used in pairs. They have different Column Address Strobe (CAS) Latency speeds referred to in their specifications as CL. PC2-5300 CL=5. PC2-6400 CL=6.
