Wireless connectivity issue
Hi all
I have a new Vostro 1700 which has a wireless issue that is puzzling me...
The wireless card on the Vostro (Dell 1395) will connect perfectly in almost all locations I've tried it in, I'm currently at work, instantly and automatically connected to a Linksys gateway using DHCP as normal
At home I have a DSL modem/router (Westell VersaLink 327W) which works perfectly with my Inspiron 8200, two Apple PowerBooks and any other wifi equipped computer that passes through... it's set to be an open network, no encryption or keys
The Vostro can see the Westell, full bars signal strength (it's only 10 feet away), but when it tries to connect it stalls out, then eventually times out and reports that it can't make a connection.
Can anybody report seeing a similar behavior, or have any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
skmarshall

hi cheecho
one of my coworkers also purchased a Vostro last week and is experiencing the same problem with a Linksys WRT54G at his home, while his laptop connects fine at the plant through our linksys WAP54G access point.
There seems to be something going on here beyond mere user-error, methinks. I'm currently at home, hooked up to a neighbor's open wifi (signal very low) while my Westell sits across the room and i can't hook up.
depressing.
