100% flash progress without progress
I installed a fresh MS Windows 10 and after that SupportAssist on a brand new Dell Precision 7540. Hoping to turn into a dual boot configuration.
SupportAssist started a bios update and this bios update got stuck somehow. The screen shows.
- Updating your firmware
- Do not power down your system
- Flash progress 100%
- Updating System BIOS with Bios Guard
I cannot turn it off. I can press power down for minutes, nothing happens. The battery cannot be removed I think without opening the system.
Is this brand new laptop dead meat now? I only had it for a few days. Why does Dell do Bios updates this way? This doesn't make sense. Why would you suggest BIOS updates that are untested and not working?

Hi @Sugarmoose,
thank you for the details. Can private message us the service tag of the system along with the BIOS version the Support Assist was trying to install?

The laptop turned off after some time after I removed the power cord. Then I was able to start it again.
One question that now remains: can I download the official MS Windows ISO installer for my laptop somewhere?

Hi @Sugarmoose,
We hope that the system is now working. If you are looking to create ISO image of the operating system shipped with the system, you can check https://dell.to/2sTPkeD for the tool.
Please private message us the service tag of the system so that we can check the system configuration.

Post your model computer and edit your post to remove the service tag which is private info not allowed on this public forum. Tags can only be given via Private Message to a Dell moderator.

3 laptops already stuck at 100% during flashing. Using Dell command update for updates.
All 3 laptops Dell Latitude 5401 with i79850.
Only fix, open the laptop up and remove the battery .(or you can wait for the battery to discharge but did not have the luxury .) once you put the batery back got a tpm error , reboot the machine once again and all seems to work normally after that.
Please either take the bios update offline , or issue a fix.

Having exactly the same issue on a Latitude 5401. Now I just unplugged the power cord from the laptop and am waiting for the battery to discharge...
No more Dells in my life. You don't deserve my money.

Came in this morning to find the people who updated with Dell Support assist locked on 0% BIOS. Only way I could get them going was to open them all up, unplug the batteries and plug them back in. Not sure what is going on but patch the patch?

The same for several Latitude 7300 and 7400 here. Very sad Dell still is not able to fix or react to this issue here!

Thank you @U2CAMEB4ME for your solutions. That will help.
But there's a "but" regarding Dell imho. If I should not use "Support Assist" or, in my case "Dell Command Update" why it is offered then? Was there zero progress in the last 20 years? Back then I had to flash Bios using a floppy disk! A USB Stick is pretty much the same. To be honest, I do want to use a one click tool to keep my system updated. Am I too convenient and / or expecting too much?
