7270 bios update not starting / TPM update

Hello All,

I use 7270 with Win10 installed. I love this model.

I have problem. Since half year I can`t update BIOS using downloaded app.

When I run in (as admin privileges) and confirm update, system is restarting and without any info about update, just starting again.

System is set as UEFI, secure update is disabled.

The same for TPM. At this time I have installed 1.2. When I want to update it situation is the same. Only restart system.

What I can do?

Thanks and have a good day

Do you have Bitlocker and if so is it enabled? Have you tried to update the BIOS using a USB from the BIOS boot menu? The installation instructions are here.

Welcome to the Dell Community   @elpoochini

First method:

Create a new folder on your desktop named “BIOS Update”

Then download your BIOS update from your Driver Support page.

Dell Latitude E7270/E7470 System BIOS:

https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=c8c98&oscode=wt64a&productcode=latitude-e7270-ultrabook

Copy the update to that folder you just created.

Close all Windows and Apps you may have open.

Go to the folder and right click on the update file and “Run as Administrator”

Second method:

Create a bootable USB drive using “Rufus”

https://rufus.ie/

Under “Boot Selection” chose “Free DOS”

Copy the BIOS update to the bootable USB drive you just created..

Insert USB drive, power-on and start tapping the “ F12 “ key.

Boot from USB and run the BIOS update.

After reboot test and post any results.

Best regards,

U2

Note: Before updating the BIOS, ensure that you suspend BitLocker encryption on a BitLocker-enabled system.

Not works

After prepare USB drive, I start downloaded bios.exe file.

I confirm starting of update and I get only information - prepare for update and laptop just restart. Below screends with installed bios and TPM.

It`s look like, that something is blocking process of updating anything in bios

@elpoochini

Try disabling "Secure Boot" first.

Then try running it again.

It`s already disabled before any update.

The worst is that don`t know what`s the reason - system (settings, 3rd app) oraz bios settings.

Interesing thing. Today, I receive additional update in Windows Update menu. There was BIOS 1.30.

I check it to install, and after download I restart computer and bios start to update.

After reset I try to update BIOS from Dell update tool, but system only restart.

It`s mean, that I need to find some settings in system. Windows update can install BIOS update, but I can`t install BIOS update from Dell tool

I had exactly the same issue with 7270. I was stuck on 1.30.

Solution:

Enabled BIOS downgrade from BIOS

Disabled Virtualisation

Disabled Bitlocker

Downgraded one version below (1.29)

Upgraded to the newest 1.36 successfully

Hope this will work for you.
