Backlit keyboard will not work on Dell Latitude E5570
I have a Dell E5570 which has both Touchscreen and backlit keyboard in its Bios (version 1.23.3). The touchscreen works but the backlit keyboard does not even though it had set the timeout settings on both battery and AC to NEVER. After buying the laptop, I noticed that there is a one inch white spot in the LCD screen in its lower left hand portion. This blemish looks as if the lid was closed on an item such as a pen or pencil. Would a damaged LCD screen caused the backlit keyboard not to work? Please advise as soon as possible. Thank you to all viewers for your assistance.

This support page may help, though backlit problems can be maddening to figure out.

Thank you for your reply, I had already read that page and found that none of the tips helped with my problem. I think it may be either a bad backlit keyboard and/or a defective LCD touchscreen. The , I had recently bought this E5570 from a private owner and had found that a liquid (possibly water) had been spilt on the laptop. I certainly activated the backlit keyboard for AC and battery in the upgraded BIOS. The FN key combinations do not appear to work. This is why I may need a new backlit keyboard. In addition, there is definitely a whitish mark about an inch long in the lower left portion of the screen, possibly indicating a damaged LCD screen. But, that is my thought. Please advise and thank you for your time.

The spill could have damaged or corroded the keyboard plug. You could try removing the keyboard and cleaning the connectors. But it may come down to replacing the keyboard. Here is how to remove the keyboard. And parts are available here.

Thank you for your response. I fully agree with your assessment. I have ordered an OEM backlit keyboard pursuant to ST 4DWBQ92 specs. Likewise, I also ordered an OEM LCD screen for the current LCD that shows a bubble mark which may, or may not, have been caused by the liquid leakage. Again, thank you for essentially coming to the same assessment that I have.
