Computer becomes unuseable
COMPUTER ISSUES
I’m experiencing recurring performance issues:
- Programs are slow loading
- Mouse movement becomes jerky, eventually becomes unusable.
- When a dialogue box opens the box is often empty/blank or loads after long wait, sometimes never.
- Computer often locks up.
- In order to keep it from locking up I have to reboot frequently
- The computer often freezes for a few minutes sometimes longer.
- Mouse sticks on and drags things around and launches things by just moving the cursor over it.

System model? Operating system? If the system is more than a year old, has it had internal cleaning and maintenance?

@ejn63 The computer is not a year old. I have been having this problem since I received new. The problems have gotten worse as time goes by.

You may want to start with a firmware update - there is a newer version than you have.

Apologizes, but I have opened the link you gave me but I am not finding a way to update the firewall.

You shouldn't see a firewall update unless your system has one. If it does, you'll need to consult the documentation for the firewall. Click on Find Drivers, and then BIOS update.

@longbeachdmh
download this BIOS file from DELL Support page.
Run the downloaded file as admin.
Load the main battery and unplug the charger. Check the performance. If it works fine, the charger or the charging plug from the laptop will be faulty.
If you still face the same probs, ask Dell for SSD and RAM replacement.

@ejn63
I think, that @longbeachdmh means FIRMWARE and not FIREWALL (sorry for the Caps!)
