Connect 2 dell laptops with USB C through WD19 docking station

 Hello All -

I have 2 latitude laptops with USB c port and I want to use it through Wd19 and be able to switch between two. Is there any way to do it?

Thank you,

Yes, you can use two Latitude laptops with USB-C ports through a single Dell WD19 dock and switch between them. Here's how you can do it:

  1. Connect each laptop to the dock: Connect the first laptop to the dock using a USB-C cable. Then, turn off the laptop and connect the second laptop to the dock in the same way.

  2. Configure the dock settings: Turn on the first laptop and make sure it is fully booted and logged in. Then, go to the Dell WD19 settings and make sure that the "USB-C" option is selected as the "Default Connection Mode".

  3. Switch between laptops: To switch between laptops, simply turn off the active laptop and turn on the other one. The dock should automatically switch to the new laptop, allowing you to access all of the connected peripherals and devices through the dock.

Note: Make sure that both laptops are compatible with the Dell WD19 dock and support DisplayPort over USB-C. It may also be helpful to check the dock's manual for specific instructions and requirements for switching between laptops.

Thank you for sharing your views on it. Totally appreciate you taking time out to reply. Pardon me if I'm not getting it right.

There is only one USB C input to the WD19 docking station. Individually, they connect with it one at a time just fine.

From your response, it seems that you are suggesting that Docking station has 2 input and connect both machine to it and it will pickup one of them based on their active status.

Am I reading it right, but I just see one input to the docking station.

Please throw some light.

You'll need something like the KVM switch linked below.
