Dell 5285 wacom pen problem

Question

Unfortunately, I dropped the original pen pn556 and it stopped working (And that's why I didn't use the pen for a very long time). I have only recently been able to purchase a new pen ( Wacom bamboo ink ). I tested it and found it works everywhere, but in the lower right part of the screen, the sensitivity is so low that the line is not drawn, and the interface buttons are not pressed. Finger sensitivity works great everywhere. I opened the tablet and checked - all cables are connected to the Wacom display controller. The Wacom controller is located exactly in the place of the screen where the pen hardly works, and, as you can see, several powerful magnets are located right there. Could it be that it is because of them that problems with pen support begin over time? Will replacing the wacom PWB-C871-C controller itself help?

Johnny-five. He shielded the magnets with aluminum tape. I'll try to screen them too, just in case.

I think you'll find if the pen works at all, the controller is fine -- the problem is more likely with the digitizer in the screen. For that, replace the display panel.

From your description at least, it sounds like there's an issue with the digitizing layer on parts of the screen.

If someone truly claimed aluminum tape would shield anything using a true magnet, I would question their claims.

Aluminum is not magnetic in at all. Now, if the claim is that it was electromagnetic shielding (with the emphasis on the electro-), that's another matter.

I peeled off the electromagnetic shielding fabric from the old navigator, which protected the microcircuits and the loop. I will try to use it. Then I'll check the foil or electrostatic bag. It's not hard for me to check, just in case. In the evening I will check and write the result.

It looks like the digitizer is damaged in that area -- the only solution is to replace the screen.

In this area, the pen does not work, but the touch works fine.
I have already ordered a screen controller, so when it arrives, I will replace and check for complete peace of mind.

I don’t know if it’s worth changing the screen, under warranty I will not change it anyway. I'd better sell a tablet to someone who doesn't need a stylus, but a touchscreen is enough.

@kosta_r​ any updates. have the same device with a corrupt firmware on that controller. are the controllers serialised to the screen or not? is there a firmware that I could install to fix it or do I have to replace it?
