Dell Dock - using a USB C Extension lead

Afternoon all,

I'm sure that there have been numerous threads regarding this, but perhaps someone may have had some luck getting this to work.

We have various Dell Docks installed around our school and, in classrooms, these are connected to an interactive screen with touch capabilities. The touch function works by using a USB A to B cable which is connected from the screen to the docking station in order to allow staff to annotate when they plug their devices in.

The length of the cable is quite limited and I've bought various USB-C extension cables for this matter (active cables as well. The peripherals attached to the dock do work when used (mouse, keyboard, ethernet, screens via display port etc), except the A to B cable where the touch functionality ceases as the dock seems to be unable to communicate through it. If I unplug the A to B cable from the dock and plug it in directly into the USB port on the laptop, with the USB-C extension cable plugged in, the touch functionality works along with everything else.

Obviously, I'd like it all to work through the USB-C extension but, upon researching, it doesn't seem to be possible.

If anyone has any ideas on what I could possibly try, it would be much appreciated.
