This laptop supports one M.2 SATA SSD or M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD.
The options are:
Up to 512 GB SATA SSD
Up to 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD
Up to 512 GB NVMe SED SSD
So, you may choose any M.2 SATA or M.2 PCIe NVMe. M.2 PCIe NVMe would be faster. Don't worry about those size limits, as you can install larger sizes. You may want to check the power consumption if looking at Gen4 drives. Some draw more power, creating more heat which could be an issue in your laptop.
Follow the procedure in Dell Owner's Manual. Look on YouTube for videos showing disassembly of your model, such as this one. But, be cautious with them, as some use steps or methods that are not appropriate. Use the videos to add to your understanding of what to do, but follow the steps in Dell's manual.
Whenever touching components or working inside a computer, wear a grounded wrist strap, also called anti-static wrist strap, ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet. It's a cheap and sensible precaution. Rest the laptop on an anti-static mat or at least a reasonable alternative such as corrugated cardboard.

M.2 NVMe yes, at full X4 speed, no.

I want to change the ssd. if I want to replace it with nvme pcie 4 like "Samsung 970 Evo plus, important p5 plus, wd black sn850" will it still work?
