Dell latitude D630 help

Question

I have a Dell latitude D630 with Vista business

The only thing the computer does is crash and if it hasn't crashed for two minutes then the wifi crashes. The worlds excuse for the crashing windows is that the problem is vista

How do I install different windows ? The windows I have are outdated and wont work on the internet anyway.

I was looking into getting a new wifi card and someone said something about a usb wifi adapter. What should I do ? Is there any hope for this computer ?

I have zero experience with computers and have never installed anything or worked on a computer in any way .

A thorough run of the Dell diagnostics is a good place to start. F12 a few times at powerup.

As for upgrading the OS, unless you're willing to shift to one version of Linux or another, this is a dead-end hardware wise -- Windows 10 just will not run well on this platform.

I don't know anything about Linux but if it will make this piece of equipment function then I am interested in it

I don't believe in wasting things ~ the computer can be used for things like watching videos or reading pdf documents ~ but still the thing crashes

Windows 7 is still a good OS to clean install on this laptop.  I have two D630 both core 2 duo cpu.  Yes Win 7 is no longer safe on the internet but it will at least give you a stable OS.  Also I find Win 7 much faster to install than vista.  You can find free Win 7 installation dvd on line.

Partitioning is the only real problem, unless you dont want Vista and accept the default.

Linux may be too complicated for me to figure out but I'll look into it

I'm assuming I need a usb that doesn't require a driver

the computer usually breaks whatever is plugged into it when it crashes ~ it has destroyed mp3 players and flash drives
