Dell Latitude E5430 BIOS update
Latitude E5430
Hi Everyone
I am new to this forum today I have panicked a bit after had some issue with the clock not updating properly and tried many troubleshot, I decided to update my BIOS to the latest version.
My laptop had installed the A07 version of the BIOS and I update it to the A21 but unfortunatelly after the update the fan wouldn't start anymore so after many tryes I decided do downgrade to the versio A07 again and this fixed the issue with the fan.
So at this point should i keep this current firmware or do you advice to try and update to the A09 and see if the fan works? anyone have had the same problem?
Thanks a lot for your help

If the clock does not update and when you boot the system you are prompted to change the time and/or date, that is not a BIOS version error. That usually indicates a problem with the CMOS battery and requires changing the battery. We have an E5430 and had that exact problem plus the system BIOS would change from UEFI back to Legacy.
Now that battery is available here and here and here (the E6420 CMOS battery is the same as the E5430) and a word of advice about the procedure to change it. If you follow the service manual or Parts-People instructions, it is at least a 1/2 hour teardown. But this Youtube video shows how to do it in less than 5 minutes. I used that procedure and it worked like a charm and so much easier. I used a utility knife instead of a Dremel but the Dremel is much faster.
