Dell Latitude E6230: External Monitors not working
The external monitors do not work when physically connected to the laptop or when using a docking station. The laptop was restored to the factory state and the memory was upgraded from 8 GB to 16 GB. Subsequently, the necessary updates were installed and the BIOS was flashed. Any ideas?

If you've already tried multiple displays and multiple cables in addition to multiple video output connectors, then assuming installing the necessary updates included installing all applicable drivers, my guess is that there might be a hardware issue on the motherboard that affects connectivity to both the built-in display output connectors and the video outputs wired to the underside docking connector. Just to rule out any possible issues within the OS, try this:
- Dock the system.
- Shut it down.
- Connect an external display to the docking station.
- Close the laptop lid and power it on using the Power button the dock.
When a laptop is powered on while it's docked and has its lid closed, it's supposed to display even the initial boot screens on the external display. If even that isn't happening, then it's going to be a hardware issue rather than a software issue.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't hit refresh so my newest response is not to your comment. I tried your suggestion and unfortunately, it is the same situation. I was afraid it might be the graphics card, motherboard, and/ or connector on the laptop that interfaces the laptop to docking station. Not sure what the specific name of the connector is called if anyone knows, please reply.

I am not sure if this is relevant or not, but under
(Default Monitor) and Properties
Adapter Type (blank)
Adapter Information
Chip Type: (unavailable)
DAC Type: (unavailable)
Adapter String: (unavailable)
Bios Information: (unavailable)
Total Available Graphics Memory: (unavailable)
Dedicated Video Memory: n/a
System Video Memory: n/a
Shared System Memory: n/a
On a separate note, I uninstalled the display adapter driver and rebooted the laptop instead of reverting back to a older driver. I did this because after restoring the laptop to the factory state, I updated the drivers, applications, Windows, etc.

It's called the E-Dock connector, or just the docking connector. Sorry to hear that even the pre-OS video output isn't working!

unless you added a graphics card to this system, from stock the video is thru the motherboard/processor. If you're connecting to the video ports on the left hand side where the VGA port is, you'll need to replace the daughter/IO board. If you have the monitor connecting thru the right hand side of the system, it'll be a motherboard replacement. So long as the drivers and BIOS are up to date and you've tested other cables, you'll need some hardware replacements done.
