What do you mean battery #2 ?

A laptop has only 1 battery.

Actually some E series Latitudes can have 3 batteries.

Battery #1 is the standard battery,

Battery #2 is the optional slice battery in the CD caddy,

Battery #3 also optional, is a battery pack that connects to the E-port under the laptop.

The message "Battery# 2 not present" is normal for a standard setup.

How old is your main battery? You probably need a new one.

That model is old now so replacing batteries would not be cost effective. There are no new batteries available for that model and it is not recommended to buy used batteries. Use it with the adapter plugged in until you can replace it with a new laptop.

You can buy a replacement battery (Not Made by Dell!) from a 3rd party vendor on Amazon.

Quality and performance will vary so.......... "Buyer Beware!"

Battery #1 is the Main Battery.
