Doesn't power on

Hi ,

my laptop randomly stopped working, the keyboard and power flashes once and nothing else. I don't really know what to do and I can't get to my serial tag because the label isn't there and I can't power on the laptop.

If someone knows what to do it would be awesome.

Unplug the system, remove the base cover and disconnect the battery from the system board.  Hold the power button for 30 sec.

If the memory is modular, remove and reinstall the memory modules.

Reassemble the system and see if it will then power up.

If so, it likely needs a mainboard.  Whether that's worth the cost depends on the system model -- what Latitude model is it?  E5430, 7450, etc?

Hi Ainac - this worked for me when my power button did nothing.

Many Dell laptops support a feature that powers on the device as soon as it’s connected to a charger. This method is perfect if your power button has failed and you still want a quick and reliable way to turn on your laptop.

– Step 1: Plug your Dell laptop into the charger.
– Step 2: Press F2 to enter the BIOS during boot.
– Step 3: Go to the 'Power' or 'Power Management' section in the BIOS.
– Step 4: Enable the 'Power on AC' or 'Auto Power On' feature.
– Step 5: Save the changes and exit the BIOS.

With this setting enabled, your laptop will power on automatically whenever you connect it to a power source, bypassing the need for a working power button.

Hope it  works for you. Regards, Niloc1017
