E5430 BIOS won't update

Current BIOS on my E5430 is A09 and I've been trying to update the BIOS. Can't get the update/flash to write to the chip.

I've run the 'exe' file with and without Admin privileges. I've booted to DOS (via USB) and tried to flash in that matter.  All to no luck.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro with all current updates.

I don't get any error messages. It presents the display of being loaded and then immediately reboots, but when I check there is not any update.

I got my BIOS update files from URL below:

http://downloads.dell.com/published/pages/latitude-e5430.html

BIOS is a non-Vpro supported.

I've tried incremental updates (IE: A10, etc.) still no luck.

I've also toggled Intel Virtualization Technology off as a test as well.  Someone had suggested that also.

Any suggestions will be most appreciated.

RESOLVED ...

After trying many different things (none of which worked for me anyway) ... I ended up (again) shutting down the E5430 and this time REMOVED it from its docking station.

Rebooted to a USB 3.0 thumb drive with DOS and then loaded the next incremental BIOS (A10) and it worked like a champ.  Then I loaded the most current BIOS (A18) and it loaded just fine.

Ergo ... in my case the E5430 didn't like being in the docking station to perform this function.

Hi

I have a latitude e5430 with 4gb of ram. I have tried all the soultions I could find on updating the bios from a07 and nothing worked. The laptop displays warnings that the bios is about to update, I confirm and the latop then prepares to update. once the file is extracted laptop reboots and no update occurs.

What I have tried so far.

1. from winpe environment using flashw64.exe

a) /b=5430a07v.exe to re-install existing bios version

b) /b=5430a09v.exe to upgrade to v09.

2. both using freedos

3. both using the dell update utility from usb (ddpp).

4. from within windows

5. from command line within windows

formatted HDD.

switched off everything i could find in bios from virtualization to security to parallel ports.

I do not see any evidence of Bitlocker installed on the machine so that is not disabled but doubt it is activated/installed.

reason for searching for the update is that the laptop is switching off with asf2 force to shutdown.

We have replaced the fan and put new heat paste on processor.

So all out of ideas.

Would appreciate some help here.

Best regards

@hsb3777 I found the issue was involving the upgrade I made to my E5430 to a solid state drive. After swapping out the drive back to the sata drive I was able to update the bios. So I guess everytime I update the bios I'll need to remove the SSD drive and swap out for an sata drive.
