E6430 CPU upgrade to a Quad core
Hi All,
I was wondering if it is a fairly simple and straight-foward process to upgrade my E6430 from an I5-3320 2.6 GHZ tp an I7-3720 are there any modifications required or is it just a CPU swap...I have the motherboard with the integrated intel video card ???...Thanks in advance....shirschb2

Not having shipped with quad-core CPUs - and not being designed to work with CPUs that run with 45W TDP - it's not a recipe for success or stability.
The system is designed for 35W and under CPUs - if you want an i7 that will work, stick to the dual-core models.
The i7-3540m was shipped in this model and will work. Even if the system will boot with a quad-core i7 -- the extra power required and heat produced may result in an unstable system.
