E6510 Touchpad Inop

Hi all. For second time in a month, touchpad quit working. The first time, I messed with it for 3 days with no success. Then one day I just started up, and it was back. This time, tried a number of fixes including updating the drivers (wouldn't take it because it was current). Tried to uninstall/ reinstall, but weirdly, I had to reboot twice for it to do anything. Shut down a third time to go out. When I came back, I cannot find any trace of the touchpad anywhere. It looks like it may have uninstalled completely. So i went to Dell/ support to see if i could find any way to reinstall it but it says my device is not compatible with any OS from Win 10 and newer, Of course I'm running 10. So i can't even access anything. So my issue is how to reinstall the touchpad (not sure if I need software, just the driver, etc.) A bit exasperating. anyone have any clues?

Hi @chipmeister

Hopefully this Driver pack should install both the touchpad driver and application on Windows 10. Once installed the usual Latitude E6510 activity icon should be displayed on your task bar, and when right clicked the detailed menu with advanced settings should be found. Please Restart (not Shut Down) to save changes.

Thanks a lot. That did get my app and driver back. Device manager shows Touchpad and the Alps drivers back (although to be honest, I never checked to see if Alps was missing in the first place). Odd thing was that when I went to install, it said I was installing an older version of a driver that was already on the system. But it all installed fine. However, the touchpad still doesn't work. Interesting thing is that when I open 'Dell Touchpad' in control program, the Pointing Devices window only shows the mouse control panel. I assume that the touchpad should show there, correct? Any ideas? Thanks again for the help.
