E6510 Win 10 Touchpad Inop

Hi All,

Weird thing. Fired up this morning and my touchpad is inoperative. Tried to do a driver update with no success. Tried a few internet found fixes but one problem I'm running into is that my windows search window has been inoperative for months so any fixes that involve me typing there are out. Never had a problem with the touchpad before. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Do you mean searching via the Windows key/menu? If so, then that may suggest a wider issue with your Windows installation. There are various possible fixes for lack of Windows menu search, some more involved than others.

Are there any other issues with your Windows installation?

If both those issues occurred recently, it could be worth trying to restore an earlier system restore point or, if you have one, an image backup.

Hello...
update W10 to the latest to bring back search functionality.
Then check, if touchpad is yellow triangle at device manager.

Hi. Actually, yes. I have the windows search field displayed all the time on the taskbar so I usually don't use the Windoks key. But either way, it has been busted for several months. I have tried several online fixes I found unsuccessfully. I tried to tie it to an update but it didn't seem to happen just after one. Haven't had any other Windows issues. Funny thing here is the base issue I posted about, the touchpad, just started working again. But the search issue is frustrating for sure. Thanks.

Thanks. My touchpad started working again. But the search function is still a problem. System is current and updated.
