E7470 power up failure
Hi, I have an E7470 which does not power up when I press the power button after it has been powered off for some time.
Fortunately I've configured it to start when AC power supply is attached, so when having AC power and an adapter I can start the laptop, but I really would like to be able to switch it on when not have AC + adapter available.
What could this be?

Could be a bad battery or a system board issue. How old is the battery?

It still may be. If you have one or more weak cells, the capacity reduction may make for a reduction in voltage such that the system won't power up on AC (the power draw at startup is greater than during routine operation).
If the system is running Windows 10 or 11, you can open a command prompt and run powercfg /batteryreport (needs admin privilege). That will give you an idea of what the current capacity of the battery is.
A weak or dead CMOS battery can produce powerup issues as well.
If the problem isn't the battery, it's probably a fault on the system board.

Some years. But when I start it up triggered by AC, battery is 43% full (today) and previously 80% etc. So battery is absolutely not low. That's not the problem.

Thanks! I have a second one just the same so can swap batteries. That will show whether it's the battery or not I guess. Will post the result here.

This morning the laptop started nicely by pushing the power button. Was shut down in hibernation. Maybe that makes a difference?
