Fan question
I have a brand new Latitude 3540 and yesterday was my first day of using it. I shut my laptop down at night and this morning, when I turned it on I noticed that the fan kicked in. I've never had a laptop engage its fan simply for turning it on. Is this normal?

Most if not all Laptops will spin up the fan when powered on, probably as a 'sign of life'. Don't know if I've had a laptop that didn't do it and I've seen repair techs look for fan spin as a sign the motherboard isn't trashed. My experience has been max speed for a few seconds before BIOS finishes then it should return to slow or off if the OS isn't doing anything intensive.
