Latitude 5410

so I spilled coffee all over my laptop it’s the latitude 5410 and I removed the battery and memory and dried everything as much as possible but now when I turn it on it’s says that no hard drive is installed and I’m not sure what to do it’s also blinking 8 white lights and 2 amber the caps button turns on is there any way I can fix it myself?

You can try reseating (disconnect, clean and reconnect) the display cable, but if the blinking continues, you  will either have to live with it, or start replacing parts.  Again, unless the display itself was clearly hit with the liquid, the system board is more likely damaged than the display panel.

That code means a failed LCD -- which in turn could be a bad LCD or could be a bad system board.

You can try to see if you can get a screen diagnostic to run (hold the D key through powerup;  you should see a series of alternating test screens).  If you do, the screen is likely OK.

If this is a 5410 (not an E5410), it probably has a solid state drive -- and it's likely the failure is on the mainboard, not the drive.

If you see no backlight at all but can see the patterns using a bright flashlight against the screen, it's likely the mainboard was fried in the accident.

If you don't see anything at all on screen, and know only the screen was affected by the coffee spill, replace the screen first.

Otherwise, replace the system board first -- it's far more likely to have been damaged, unless you know no liquid made it onto the keyboard or palmrest.  It's also entirely possible both the mainboard and the screen need to be replaced.

hi thank you so much I'm sorry to ask again but  i opened it up in case there was trapped liquid inside and there was some so after cleaning and leaving it to dry it seems to be working. I'm typing this from said computer but the caps button is not lighting now and its still flashing 2 amber 8 white otherwise its working perfectly. i just was wondering if i still need to replace the system board after this is that the reason for the blinking?
