Help needed setting up WIFI on C640
I recently fired up my C640 with XP and tried logging on to WIFI and I found there was no WIFI card listed in System Devices. I had used this PC a lot 3 yrs ago. I dug a bit deeper and found I had replaced the HD and the new one was never configured for WIFI.
Replaced the new HD with the older one and WIFI works just fine. Looked at Devices to see what I needed to install on the new HD to get WIFI. So far I have installed the Intel 82801 and 82845 software which were missing on the new HD. Tried using the 3C920 Integrated LAN software for the WiFI card but it's not working (I also have another 3C9xx driver which didn't work).
Found an Intel Pro/Wireless BG-2200 Network Connection listed in Devices on the HD with WIFI but when I load the software for the BG-2200 onto the new HD I still have no WIFI. And the program seems to be having some sort of issue, perhaps not installing properly and hanging. Tried loading it again, same results.
The WIFI card installed is an Intel P/N:0C9063 Perhaps the software I need is not the one I now have. If anyone has a C640 (or any laptop that uses the same Intel card), can you check your configuration and Device settings so I can figure out what drivers I need?
Is there another piece of software that I need to install before loading the BG-2200 driver? I seem to recall a post long ago about loading Network software on the Dell that required doing so in a particular order to get the PC to recognize the WIFI board. Any other info you may need, just ask, thanks.

After install of Windows, you need to install the chipset driver then all the other drivers.

I downloaded one more Intel driver, the Mobile Chipset. Upon reboot the PC now found the missing 3Com 3C920 Intergrated Fast Ethernet Controller (3C905C-TX Compatible driver. But the Intel PRO/Wireless BG-2200 Network Connection has the yellow ! symbol in front of it and I have no WIFI.
Upon shut down the PC says there is a program running and can't seem to shut it down. On the 2nd try it will force shutdown. I noticed two programs running in Task Mgr, "PRONoMgr.exe and ZcfgSrv.exe". Once I kill them the PC will shutdown.
Just downloaded the Intel Pro/Wireless 5000 Lan software, maybe that will solve the problem? Last choice is to reload the OS and drivers all over and hope this time everything meshes.
